Award-winning author Margaret Atwood lectures on her book "Oryx and Crake" through the Common Reading Program. Her visit included an interview at KVSC, and a reception with students as well as the lecture in Ritsche Auditorium.
Award-winning author Margaret Atwood visited St. Cloud State Nov. 19 to lecture on her novel “Oryx and Crake,” which is the 2015 Common Reading Program book for 2015.
During her visit, Atwood visited with KVSC reporters, attended receptions for students and donors and spoke to a packed Ritsche Auditorium crowd.
“Oryx and Crake” (2003) is a post-apocalyptic, dystopian novel with themes that include genetic engineering, transhumanism and environmental degradation.
Atwood has published poetry, children’s books, non-fiction, short-fiction, libretti and television scripts.
She has received nearly 20 honorary degrees, from schools such as Harvard University and Bard College.
