The spring 2016 Women on Wednesday series “Women at the Heart of Transformation” looks at women who are fighting forms of oppression locally and globally.

The noon-hour lecture series put on by the St. Cloud State University Women’s Center brings diverse women and programming to St. Cloud State to cover political, social, legal and economic issues affecting women’s lives. Lectures are held on select Wednesdays at noon in the Atwood Theatre in the Atwood Memorial Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
The spring series explores the diverse and varied perspectives of women and girls of current events from Black Lives Matter and experiences of high school girls in St. Cloud to abortion clinic violence and female genital cutting.
“These sessions offer hope, inspiration and solutions as you will see by our experienced and talented lineup of presenters,” said Jane Olsen, Women’s Center director. “Join us as the Women’s Center continues this forum to analyze gender issues, highlight emerging and experienced voices and envision a future of feminist solutions and possibilities.”
The seven-session series begins at noon Jan. 27 with a presentation of “Call it like it is: Domestic terrorism at reproductive healthcare facilities” by Andrea Ledger and Dana Johnson, both of National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (NARAL) Pro-Choice Minnesota.
Ledger is executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota and has more than a decade of experience organizing and advocating for social justice issues in Minnesota. She previously served as the director of political and legislative action for the Minnesota Nurses Association.
Johnson is the clinical escort program coordinator and the electoral organizer for NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota. She has worked in various positions for the organization for two and a half years.
