About 21 St. Cloud State student veterans and criminal justice and business majors had the opportunity to meet with employers in their respected career fields one-on-one to learn more about their field, have their resumes reviewed and ask questions regarding employment on Jan. 29 at the Breakfast with the Professionals event, hosted by the Veterans Resource Center.
“Having our military-connected students meet with theses employers in a quiet setting helps students greatly. There can be many distractions during a regular fair such as noise level or anxiety,” said Zac Mangas, interim director of the Veterans Resource Center. “The ability to sit down at a round table and have discussion with an employer in a casual environment can alleviate some of those challenges, and more importantly, get them hired.”
About 21 percent of student veterans graduate with degrees in criminal justice and business.
Seven companies attended the event to help answer student’s questions about employment, including Frito-Lay, United Health Group, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota State Patrol, State Department and the Minneapolis Police Department. About 21 student veterans attended the event.
