UTVS TV will be recognized with a Best of Festival award at a convention April 18 in Las Vegas.

That highest honor is one of nine awards UTVS, Husky Productions and KVSC 88.1 FM earned from the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Festival of Media Arts, an international refereed exhibition of faculty creative activities and a national showcase for student work.

Producers Emilio Ramos De Jesus ’15, Danielle Maroney and Sarah Rudlang led a crew of 22 students on the winning Oct. 19 “UTVS News” newscast.

That newscast was judged better than, among other entries, Arizona State University’s “Cronkite News” and Oklahoma University’s “OU Nightly.” Husky Productions, a division of UTVS TV, earned Best of Festival nods in 2015, 2013 and 2011.

KVSC’s “Granite City Radio Theater,” a collaboration with Pioneer Place on Fifth Theatre in downtown St. Cloud, earned an Award of Excellence.

The live variety show’s crew and guests were led by station manager Jo McMullen-Boyer ’91 and operations director Jim Gray ’03 ’05.
