A revamped Eastman Hall would serve students, staff and the state economy well, 11 panelists said Thursday at St. Cloud State University.
Lt. Gov. Tina Smith asked questions and offered opinions and information while moderating a discussion inside the building’s second-floor gymnasium.
The event promoted a bonding bill proposal from her and Gov. Mark Dayton that includes $12.4 million for an Eastman renovation project. What is effectively a loan from taxpayers would turn the building — an unused recreational facility — into a health and education center. Eastman would house mental and physical health services for students, along with related academic programs.
