KVSC takes home 5 awards from AP, SPJ contests

KVSC 88.1 FM reporters earned four 2015 Minnesota Associated Press Broadcaster awards and a finalist honor in the Society of Professional Journalists 2015 Mark of Excellence Awards.

The awards were presented at the organization’s events April 8-9 at the Midwest Journalism Conference in Bloomington.

KVSC took home four awards from the AP Banquet:

  • Declan Goff, Daniel Papp and Jeremiah Graves earned first place honors in Sports Reporting for “Huskies Sports Friday.”
  • Papp and Gabe Anderson took first place in Sports Play-by-Play for “SCSU Women’s Basketball vs. MN-Crookston.”
  • Goff and Jeremy Klein earned honorable mention in Sports Play-by-Play for “Huskies Baseball.”
  • Korina Borash earned honorable mention in spot/hard news for her piece “Kidnapping in Melrose.”

KVSC earned a finalist award at SPJ’s Region 6 Spring Conference in Radio News Reporting for Korina Borash’s report “#StrongEnough Bully Prevention Campaign.”

SPJ’s Mark of Excellence Awards honors the best of collegiate journalism from a calendar year.
