St. Cloud Times – Earl H. Potter III had some big choices to make about the St. Cloud State University athletic department during his nine years as the university’s president.
He helped get an $18 million renovation to the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center completed, helped guide the men’s hockey team into a new conference, considered cutting football and ultimately had to cut six other sports.
Those high-profile decisions are what many people will remember him for.
But some in the athletic department will also remember Potter, who died Monday in a Brooklyn Center traffic accident, as a mentor, leader and someone willing to help and to provide perspective.
