Katie Fitzgerald ’16 had accepted that she was done playing high-level hockey.
“I had tried to get a job playing in Europe and that didn’t pan out,” she said. “I had accepted my retirement.”
Fitzgerald graduated from St. Cloud State in the spring with a degree in mass communications, with a public relations emphasis. She split time her first three seasons as the Huskies’ starting goalie and then started 34 out of the team’s 35 games last season as a senior.
