Two transfer students, drawn by St. Cloud State student media opportunities, will live out career dreams in front of Husky Productions cameras.

Katie Emmer, a junior from Delano, and Bobbie Bohlig, a senior from St. Cloud, will join the men’s Huskies Hockey broadcast team led by Jim Rich and Mark Parrish.
Emmer, who is the in-studio host, transferred from University of Hawaii-Hilo.
The ice-side reporter, working in the home bench and doing post-game interviews, is Bobbie Bohlig, a Minnesota State University Mankato transfer.
Rich, sports director for Eden Prairie-based Fox 9 KMSP, will handle play-by-play. Parrish, a former St. Cloud State forward and veteran of 11 NHL seasons, will do commentary.
Coordinating it all will be producer Austin Tema, a junior from Stacy, and Brian Stanley ’93, executive producer. Each broadcast demands a crew of more than 20 people, mostly students.
“Growing up in St. Cloud, I fell in love with St. Cloud State sports at a young age. As a family we attended SCSU hockey games for as long as I can remember,” said Bohlig. “Now years later, I get to cover the action for the community I hold so dear to my heart.”
“I transferred to St. Cloud State specifically for Husky Productions,” said Emmer. “I’m fortunate to be a part of such an incredible, award-winning production.”
Husky Productions’ 2016 national awards include a College Sports Media Award, Student Production Crystal Pillar Award, BEA Best of Festival Award and a Eric Sevareid Award.
Husky Productions, a division of UTVS, the campus television station, manages broadcasts of Huskies Athletics events, including NCAA Division I men’s hockey. Derrick Silvestri ’06 is the UTVS advisor and studio manager.
The first production is the men’s Huskies Hockey game with University of Regina 7:07 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. View the broadcasts on Charter 823 in the St. Cloud area and Comcast 999 in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
Husky Productions broadcasts are sometimes carried by regional and national networks.
