St. Cloud Times — A Somali hip-hop collective will perform and participate in a Central Minnesota residency in October, staff from Paramount Arts announced this week.
Waayaha Cusub, which means “new era,” will in be St. Cloud for a week-long residency in late October and perform Nov. 4. The residency will include eight to 10 artist-led events for a variety of audiences, including colleges and K-12 schools, and workshops in poetry and songwriting, discussion and pop-up shows.
Some of the members of the group now live in Minnesota, including one in Waite Park, with others living in the Netherlands. The original group members will be reunited and perform live, their first shows in the U.S. as a full group.
