The agency’s customer this semester is the College of Liberal Arts, for whom students are developing a campaign proposal to promote the value of a liberal arts degree.
Students will present the campaign proposal 6 p.m. Nov. 28 in Stewart Hall, Room 120. Among Husky Agency’s research activities for the campaign is a five-question survey targeted at St. Cloud State students.
Campaign manager is Ali Grillo, a senior mass communications major from Elk River who has interned and worked for Sue McLean & Associates, a Minneapolis concert promoter.
The liberal arts, long a centerpiece of higher education, include humanities, fine arts and social sciences programs that emphasize critical thinking, analytical skills, creativity and imagination. The Association of American Colleges & Universities argues a liberal arts degree “empowers individuals with broad knowledge and transferable skills, and a strong sense of values, ethics, and civic engagement.”
Mark Springer, dean of the College of Liberal Arts at St. Cloud State concurs: “A liberal arts grad has a higher degree of transferable skills than other candidates. They are better prepared to find success in careers not only in their chosen field, but beyond.”
Walsh is an assistant professor of mass communications.
