St. Cloud Times — They came in droves.
Police officers, community leaders, educators, students, activists, parents and children.
They all came to hear the message of hope from civil rights activist Myrlie Evers-Williams. They all came together to remember the legacy of the Martin Luther King Jr. And they came to keep King’s dream alive.
“The word that comes to mind is hope,” said Mary Hinton, president of the College of St. Benedict. “Your presence at this event means hope. Today, at this moment, we need to call for the hope and strength of our collective ancestors. We continue to exemplify what it means to be hope, have hope and move forward.”
At the fourth annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast and Day of Service, hundreds of people from all across Central Minnesota gathered in the Atwood Memorial Center Ballroom at St. Cloud State University to share both a meal and food for thought on the message of being humankind.
