Best Goaltender: Katie Fitzgerald ’16, New York Riveters
Brought on to be a practice player, Fitzgerald filled the spot in the crease when Jaimie Leonoff dropped out of the NWHL for at least the season with a lower-body injury. Fitzgerald quickly became an invaluable piece behind her Riveters teammates, and the media recognized her rise to the occasion with the title of best goaltender.
“Katie has been great for us all season,” said Riveters assistant coach Sis Paulsen. “I’d seen her play at St. Cloud State and knew what she was capable of.”
