St. Cloud Times — The St. Cloud Tech boys tennis is attempting to make it six straight section championships this week.
The Section 8-2A team tournament gets underway Monday in Alexandria and Becker.
The Tigers are 14-3 after wrapping up the Central Lakes Conference title with a 10-0 record. That was their eighth straight CLC title. They’ve won or tied for first in the conference 36 times since the Central Lakes was formed for the 1977-78 school year.
They’ll be the favorite again this week, not that Tech coach Paul Bates ’87 is taking anything for granted.
He said he expects some good matches and tough tennis this week. He wants his team focused on getting to the state team tournament June 6 at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
