Students learn about health care careers

AM 1240 WJON — Giving students a hands-on learning experience and exposing them to careers in healthcare is the mission of St. Cloud State’s Scrubs Camp.

Leah Meredith, experiential learning and outreach director, says the program gives students a realistic idea of what it’s like to work in today’s healthcare industry.

“They essentially go through sessions like you would if you were going to a conference. You get to do hands on simulated activities, learning about careers in nursing, social works and other behavioral health areas. You get to learn about what it would be like to be a physician on a college campus, or a physician in a hospital and so forth,” Meredith said.

This is the university’s second year hosting the day camp.
