Forest Lake Times — What are the chances that two kids who grew up across the street from each other would end up serving in Vietnam together?
What are the chances that the same two guys, now 70, would end up as co-grand marshals of the Forest Lake Fourth of July parade 50 years later?
The chances are pretty good when you consider that Forest Lake is one town deeply proud of its Vietnam veterans and going to extreme measures to welcome them home.
That’s what in store for Forest Lake residents John Moxness and Bruce Johnson ’71, as they have been selected by American Legion Post 225 to lead the 93rd annual Independence Day parade here.

Johnson finished his degree in accounting at St. Cloud State College and worked as an accountant before earning a Master of Business Administration at St. Thomas University and moving to a career in the insurance field. He has been with State Farm Insurance for 42 years and will retire on June 30. His son, Jesse, runs the Forest Lake agency now.
