The 2017 Minnesota Campus Sexual Violence Prevention Summit hosted representatives from more than 60 colleges June 27-28 on the St. Cloud State University campus in an effort to help spread awareness and prevent sexual assault on campus and in the community.
More than 30 workshops spanned out over the two-day event featuring topics from Title IX, supporting sexual assault survivors and college health services, among others.
The events keynote speaker, Ramsey County Attorney John Choi, spoke to a packed Atwood Memorial Ballroom about community engagement and culture change to end sexual violence.
His talk also included experiences working with colleges throughout Ramsey County and his public advocacy to replace harmful social norms and paradigms with new ones that lead to better outcomes for women and men.
The Summit, under the Minnesota Department of Health, shares best practices and experiences for effective response to and prevention of sexual violence, dating violence, sexual harassment and stalking. It is designed to create a sense of shared community and brings together teams of campus administrators, prevention staff and community partners from throughout the state to improve prevention of and response to sexual violence.
