St. Cloud State University Foundation and Confucius Institute are fundraising $4,000 to finance disability accommodations for students studying in China.

The University’s Beijing-based education-abroad program is May 7-22.
Funds raised will pay for flight tickets, personal care and accessible transportation.
Donations will be accepted through Nov. 28.
China is still developing broad-based services and infrastructure for people with disabilities.
Until recently, China’s approach toward people with disabilities was summarized by the Mandarin Chinese word cánfèi, which is sometimes translated as “handicapped and useless.”
The trip is managed by the Confucius Institute and Education Abroad.
The Confucius Institute is offering 20 scholarships for participating students, including five earmarked for students with disabilities.
Deadline for applying for the trip is Feb. 1.
Located on first floor of the Education Building, Confucius Institute is financed and managed, in part, by the Office of Chinese Language Council International in the Ministry of Education, People’s Republic of China.
