Karen Night is 3-5 p.m. Nov. 11 in the Cascade Room in Atwood.
The theme of the event is Red, White, and Blue, which are the colors of the Karen flag.
The event will be introduced with the Karen anthem and the afternoon will include dancing, singing, poems, and food. The food served will be fried chicken, fried rice, fried noodles, peppers, a Jello dessert drink, a Jello dessert and the drinks provided will be Coca Cola products.
The Karen United Student Association is a student-run organization and was started about four years ago with the goal of informing others about the Karen people.
The people attending the event will learn about traditional dances, music, and language as well as who the Karen people are.
Cultural festivals are one way the university is providing a transformative educational experience for students to help prepare them to be global citizens at home, at work and in their communities. More than 1,000 students from 90-plus nations attend St. Cloud State, and cultural festivals give them an opportunity to share elements of their culture with the campus community.
Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door.
