Men’s Huskies Hockey Coach Bob Motzko ’89 has earned an award for raising money for breast cancer research and programs.

Motzko raised more than $18,000 in 2017, which ranked him 44th among 3,106 Real Men Wear Pink ambassadors nationwide.

Real Men Wear Pink is a sister fundraising effort of the the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign. In 2017, Real Men Wear Pink of Central Minnesota raised more than $40,000.

Kim Orn ’89, senior community engagement manager for American Cancer Society in St. Cloud, said Motzko’s total surpassed that of many Minnesota community efforts.

In the 13-state American Cancer Society region to which Minnesota belongs, Motzko’s total was fifth highest, she said.

His total was more than three times the $5,000 minimum goal of a Real Men Wear Pink of Central Minnesota ambassador.
