Nearly 50 St. Cloud State students were displaced by the Sept. 8 fire at 327 Seventh Ave. S. Among them was John Becicka, Student Government president.
“The support from campus has been a tremendous help. It really shows the community we have here at St. Cloud State,” said Becicka. “I can’t thank everyone enough for what they have done to help.”
Fire spread to the balcony and living room of the third-floor apartment Becicka shared with two roommates.
“The roof collapsed in the living room leaving drywall and soot everywhere,” Becicka said. “Thankfully the fire didn’t reach our bedrooms, but everything was covered in soot and the walls were black from all the smoke.”
Through Oct. 1, the St. Cloud State University Foundation had raised more than $3,500 for the Student Emergency Relief Fund via its crowdfunding site.
A guitar player, Koza plays Americana music. He has released seven solo albums. Rogue Valley, the five-piece Americana band he fronts, has released four albums.
Koza’s show, which is dubbed the “Protect the Pack Fundraising Concert,” is sponsored by the Department of Residential Life and Atwood Memorial Center.
