ST. CLOUD TIMES — St. Cloud State University’s 24th president was inaugurated Monday. President Robbyn Wacker is the first permanently-appointed female president to lead the university.
The ceremony held in Ritsche Auditorium in Stewart Hall opened with remarks from Lt. Governor Michelle Fischbach and St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis, both 1989 graduates of SCSU. Fischbach read a proclamation from Governor Mark Dayton declaring the day “St. Cloud State University President Robbyn Wacker Day.”
President Wacker’s inauguration comes as SCSU starts to celebrate its homecoming week festivities. Minnesota State Chancellor Devinder Malhotra, who served as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at SCSU from 2009 to 2014, said in his opening remarks “for me, this is something of a homecoming. And there is no greater reason to come home than the inauguration of a new president as the university kicks off its 150th year.”
