Morrison County Record — When Ezme Blanco, a third grader at Lindbergh Elementary School in Little Falls, saw a note on the wall that students could nominate their favorite teacher, she had an idea.
“I didn’t want to do it alone,” she said.
Since her friends and classmates, Rose Jarnot and Imagine Hines, were also in between reading books, they could use the nomination as a writing project. After all, Mrs. Nancy Winscher ’84 was their favorite teacher.
“They came to me and told me what they wanted to do, but that they didn’t have a time where they could work on it,” Winscher said.
The three girls decided to give up their recess period for three days. However, it was something they did gladly. Not just because of their desire to honor their teacher in a unique way, but also for the fact that it was cold outside, Jarnot said.

Winscher graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in special education and elementary education. For the first couple of years, she worked in Belgrade and in Royalton. She later graduated from Bemidji State University in 2010 with a master’s degree in education.
