KSTP — St. Cloud St. men’s hockey was last year’s top seed in the NCAA Tournament. Then head coach Bob Motzko left for the Gophers. The new coach was left with a lot of talent, and he got some support from another former Huskies coach.
First year coach Brett Larson got some unexpected inspiration from former coach and hockey legend, the late Herb Brooks.
“I met the Brooks family at a golf tournament in the summer,” Larson told KSTP’s Chris Long. “They offered some notes their dad had taken when was sort of going through the coaching ranks. … We couldn’t stop looking at for days.”
