St. Cloud State University saluted its 2019 NCAA Division II national champion wrestling team during a celebration reception March 13. Fans, students and staff came out to celebrate the team and heard comments from Coach Steve Costanzo, seniors Brett Velasquez and Vince Dietz and Athletic Director Heather Weems.
The wrestling team finished its perfect season by capturing the 2019 NCAA Division II team championship March 8-9 at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
This marked the fourth time since 2015 that the Huskies have won the NCAA Division II national championship. SCSU also claimed the NCAA title in 2015, 2016 and 2018, all under the Costanzo’s leadership. All four trophies were on display during the celebration.
