ST. CLOUD TIMES — Sri Lankan students at St. Cloud State University are planning a Tuesday afternoon vigil for the almost 300 victims of Easter terrorist attacks in churches and hotels around their home country.
Anushka Hewarathna, a senior information systems student and president of the Ayubowan Sri Lanka Organization on campus, said St. Cloud State has about 30 Sri Lankan students and five Sir Lankan faculty members. Almost 300 Sri Lankan students have graduated from the university over the years, he said.
“As Sri Lankan students living thousands of miles away from Sri Lanka, we want to show our country that we have a community that will support them even though we are thousands of miles away,” Hewarathna said.
