Communications Studies Professor Jeff Bineham and Social Work Professor Mary Pfohl have been named the next academic directors at St. Cloud State at Alnwick.
The Alnwick academic director provides leadership and oversight for the academic programs, develops and coordinates cultural and and field events and helps with recruiting students to experience the program.
Each will serve a one-year appointment in the role with both director and teaching duties. The selection process was overseen by the Alnwick Castle Advisory Group.
Bineham will serve as academic director for the 2020-2021 school year. He has been teaching at St. Cloud State University since 1986. Bineham has served as chair of his department and has experience leading education abroad programs.
Pfohl will serve as academic director for the 2021-2022 school year. She has been teaching at St. Cloud State since 2004 and has a successful record of student engagement and experience leading education abroad programs.
“We are excited to be working with these faculty members, and I look forward to seeing the many ways they will be leading our Alnwick semester program offerings,” said Provost Dan Gregory.
Alnwick is one of the oldest and most popular study abroad programs at St. Cloud State University. Each semester student live and study at Alnwick Castle where they learn about British culture and history from British faculty members and other courses taught St. Cloud State faculty. About 3,500 students have studied at Alnwick.
The program is one of St. Cloud State’s more than 30 study abroad programs offered each year.
