City to honor Native American history

KNSI – St. Cloud will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for a historic marker honoring the first people to live in what is now Central Minnesota.

Mayor Dave Kleis was a guest of KNSI’s Bob Hughes and says that St. Cloud was established as a city in 1856.

“Prior to that the Dakota and the Ojibwe, or Anishinaabe, were here for 10,000 years and so, we’re doing a historic marker along the Mississippi.

The marker is also being put up thanks in part to the St. Cloud State University American Indian Center.
