St. Cloud joined in St. Cloud State University’s sesquicentennial with a big Happy Birthday at Summertime By George! Wednesday and a joint 150 celebration with the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce Tuesday.
Tuesday’s celebration included a reception with soda and ice cream. St. Cloud State Night at Summertime By George! included a reception area for faculty, staff and students. St. Cloud State has been sponsor at every concert this summer — handing out Sesquicentennial branded items to alumni and friends of the university.
At Summertime By George! St. Cloud State’s first president, Ira Moore, made an appearance, portrayed by Communication Studies Chair Jeff Ringer. Moore spoke to students about what life was like at St. Cloud State in his time and helped current President Robbyn Wacker lead the crowd in a shout of Happy Birthday for the historic institution.
Fabulous Armadillos and St. Cloud State former students and alumni Greg Armstrong, Paul “Stretch” Diethelm ’03, Jay O’Donnell ’92 and John Scalia donned SCSU 150 shirts for their ninth performance on the Summertime By George! stage.
