St. Cloud State University’s Center for International Studies is hosting a series of events this week in celebration of International Education Week.
International Education Week is a time to reflect on the significant internationalization work that has been a part of St. Cloud State for the last five decades and to create new and exciting initiatives as the University moves into the next decade of international work. There are a variety of great events to get engaged with during this year’s International Education Week.
Some highlights from this week’s events include:

In honor of International Education Week, here are some exciting facts about the Minnesota and St. Cloud State University’s engagement in International Education as reported by Open Doors 2019 data and shared by the Institute of International Education (IIE) :
- Minnesota ranks 19th in the United States for number of international students
- There are 15,279 international students studying at institutions in Minnesota
- St. Cloud State University is ranked second in the state for the highest number of international students with 1,714 international students
- St. Cloud State University is ranked 11th in the nation among master’s granting institutions for the number of international students
- The top five leading places of origin for international students in Minnesota are:
- China
- India
- South Korea
- Nepal
- Vietnam
- In 2018, international students brought in an estimated $482,542,587 into Minnesota’s economy
- St. Cloud State is ranked 39th in the top 40 Master’s Colleges and Universities for study abroad nationwide
- 8,490 American students studied abroad through Minnesota institutions in 2017-18 including 346 students from St. Cloud State
