A doctoral graduate receives his degree
About 525 undergraduate students and graduate students participated in Fall 2019 Commencement Dec. 20 in Halenbeck Hall.
They are among the more than 900 students from 30 countries and 16 U.S. states earning degrees fall semester. The degree earners include 739 undergraduate students, 184 graduate students and 10 doctoral students.
Honors include 82 undergraduates earning Summa Cum Laude, 112 earning Magna Cum Laude and 113 earning Cum Laude cords.
The student speaker, Brandon Askin, is from St. Cloud where he lives with his fiancée and three sons. He graduated from Sauk Rapids High School and served in the military.
Conferring degrees was be President Robby Wacker. Presenting the graduating class was Provost Dan Gregory and the deans of the schools and colleges that comprise St. Cloud State University.
Representing faculty was Aspasia Rigopoulou-Melcher, associate professor of geography and planning. Sharing alumni remarks was Terri Mische, executive director, St. Cloud State University Alumni Association.
Representing the Minnesota State system was Roger Moe, vice president of the board of trustees.
Mayor Dave Kleis ’89 brought greetings from the city of St. Cloud.
