St. Cloud State University Undergraduate Admissions has continued to connect with prospective and admitted students with virtual events and Facebook Live visits.
Admissions is hosting events large and small virtually, with Zoom webinars for Huskies Preview Day and daily visits through Zoom meetings and via Facebook Live in order to make connecting with campus easier as everyone observes social distancing.
While admissions counselors are missing the in-person interaction with students, they are happy to offer a consistent outreach at a time of adjustment and uncertainty for so many, said Kathryn Jesperson, St. Cloud State admissions counselor.
“We want to provide the best experience for our prospective and admitted students — even if it is through virtual platforms,” she said. “These past few weeks, we have had some great conversations with students via online visits or meetings scheduled by students.”
Partners from across campus have supported the efforts with departments such as Nursing, the Recovery Resource Center, and Mass Communications helping plan events to showcase their areas and offerings. The College of Science and Engineering, meanwhile, put together a virtual class to be shared with prospective students that showcases what St. Cloud State faculty and students are doing and creating together.
High school counselors have found these events useful and have shared recordings and tours with their students in their own distance learning platforms so students can take advantage of these during the school day.
For Admitted students, Advising & Student Transitions is working to move all Huskies Advising and Registration events online and spreading events out by offering Fast Track Registration throughout May.
Some upcoming events include:
- Huskies Preview Day on April 24 is open to prospective students via Zoom and will include a panel discussion with faculty and staff where prospective students will be able to learn about campus resources and hear from current students, followed by a virtual tour of campus.
- Nursing Preview Day will give those interested in nursing the chance to learn about admission to the program and take a virtual tour of the nursing simulation lab facilities.
