ST. CLOUD TIMES — Sunday marks the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which prohibits discrimination against and guarantees opportunities to people with disabilities.
It’s also the start of a 30-day, free conference through St. Cloud State University with national and international speakers on disability rights.
Embracing the Difference Globally: The ABILITY Event launches with a keynote speech from retired U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, who helped craft the Americans with Disabilities Act. The other keynote speaker is Elise Knopf, rehabilitation area manager for the St. Paul Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
