Huskies have a new tradition Friday to celebrate the first snow of the academic year with the President’s Husky Snow Day.

Despite the early snow that coated the ground last week, Huskies found a way to celebrate by building snow sculptures and enjoying cookies and hot chocolate. President Robbyn Wacker started the new tradition to get students, faculty and staff outside and enjoying the winter-like weather.

St. Cloud State will celebrate the return of the snow each academic year with a chance to take a break from studying and work and enjoy the Minnesota weather following the first snow fall of the year.

This year’s first snowfall broke records with 7 inches falling in St. Cloud on Oct. 20, breaking the snowfall record.
