Poet and author Danez Smith is doing a reading and question and answer session at 4 p.m. March 17 virtually as part of their residency with the College of Liberal Arts.

Smith is a Black, Queer, Poz writer and performer from St. Paul and the author of “Don’t Call Us Dead”. Smith is the winner of the Forward Prize for Best Collection, the Midwest Booksellers Choice Award, and a finalist for the National Book Award. They have also won the Kate Tufts Discovery Award and the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Poetry.
Smith is a member of the Dark Noise Collective and the co-host of VS with Franny Choi, a podcast sponsored by the Poetry Foundation and Postloudness. Smith’s third collection, “Homie” was published by Graywolf in January 2020.
Smith’s residency is sponsored by the School of the Arts, the Department of English, and the Pehler Grant, which provides funding for artists to present and engage with the St. Cloud State campus community.
