Professor Alexa Horochowski’s work “Vortex Drawing’ is on view as part of “The Contemporary Print: 20 Years at Highpoint Editions” exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) through Jan. 9.
“Vortex Drawing” maps the interaction between polystyrene cups (non-compostable detritus) and a wind vortex.
Horochowski’s art practice includes sculpture, photography and video. She has exhibited work regionally at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Franklin Art Works, The Soap Factory, Burnet Gallery and Franconia Sculpture Park as well as exhibiting her work nationally and internationally.
The Minneapolis Institute of Art acquired Highpoint Editions complete archive of more than 325 published prints and multiples. Highpoint Editions is the collaborative publishing arm of Highpoint Center for Printmaking in Minneapolis. With the acquisition, Mia is displaying the works in “The Contemporary Print” exhibition to showcase Highpoint’s impact on printmaking.
Highpoint Center for Printmaking was established in 2001 to give the public access to the printmaking arts. Highpoint Editions is the publishing arm of HighPoint Center and produces fine art prints made by invited professional artists in collaboration with master printer Cole Rogers and Highpoint Editions staff.
