St. Cloud State Marketing students in the St. Cloud State College Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA), Husky AMA, took home top honors at the 2022 American Marketing Association International Collegiate Conference in Chicago, Illinois in March.
Five students won the Marketing Simulations Competition at the AMA conference the week of March 17, the first time the conference was held in person since 2019. The St. Cloud State team, comprised of students Dominik Ho, Joshua Bauer, Jake Deleeuw, Noah Bunkosky, Elizabeth Christenson, beat 50 other schools around the country during the Marketing Simulations Competition.
The competition offered students the opportunity to run their own marketing department while competing against other schools to become the industry leader. Teams were given a feel for what it’s like to be behind the desk of a real company while focusing on identifying market opportunities, designing new products, creating ad campaigns, managing a sales team, reacting to market and industry data, and growing their bottom line.
Prior to the competition, the five students spent hours preparing with faculty advisors Dr. Garth Harris and Dr. Myra Wang. Dr. Wang created a practicing exercise and coached the student team, while Dr. Harris competed against the team during practice rounds.
