A message from St. Cloud State University President Robbyn Wacker:
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Abbey Zink to the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Abbey will play a key leadership role in advancing our It’s Time framework for the future of St. Cloud State University.
Abbey is a forward-thinking and proactive leader who is committed to building on our institutional strengths, supporting teacher-scholars, and focusing on the success of our students. She is a collaborator and problem solver who is committed to our work to support diversity, equity, and inclusion on our campus.
Abbey brings to the position more than 12 years of progressive leadership in higher education. She has, for example, served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Slippery Rock University, and as Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sam Houston State University. She earned her doctorate in English at Northern Illinois University and her M.A. in English and B.A. in Journalism at Marshall University. As a first-generation college student, Abbey is deeply committed to students and their success.
Abbey and her husband share their lives with a rambunctious Miniature Australian Shepard. They are looking forward to relocating to the St. Cloud area and enjoying outdoor activities.
I also want to thank Phil Thorson and the members of the search committee who dedicated their time and effort to build an excellent candidate pool and outstanding candidates to introduce to our campus community. I appreciate the consideration each committee member put into the process, and my thanks to many members of the campus community, including members of the Faculty Association who provided valuable feedback along the way through the two open forums we held for each candidate.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Abbey Zink to St. Cloud State University! Her leadership will begin on July 1, 2023.
