Dr. Jennifer Cavalli has been named Executive Director of Honors College at St. Cloud State University, effective July 5.
A historian of Early Modern European History, Gender History and Religious Studies, Dr. Cavalli comes to SCSU from the College of Charleston, where she serves as Faculty Fellow and Associate Director of Student Engagement. Her professional experience and other distinctions include serving as Faculty Fellow for the International Honors Program at Pacific Lutheran University, as an Advising Faculty Fellow of Honors College at the College of Charleston, earning a REACH Program Collaborator Award (2022) and Recognition for Outstanding Service in the First-Year Experience Program (2017) at the College of Charleston.
Dr. Cavalli has made conference presentations and has Dr. Cavalli is an accomplished conference presenter and author of articles published in Early Modern Women: An Interdisciplinary Journal and Sixteenth Century Journal. She is the author of book chapters in edited books such as After Civic Humanism: Learning and Politics in Renaissance Italy, 1300-1600, and Representing Medieval Genders and Sexualities in Europe: Construction, Transformation, and Subversion, 600-1530.
Dr. Cavalli brings to this position a background in student engagement and a deep appreciation for working on and building teams with diversified skills and experience, and recognizes the importance of community outreach. She believes that building strong relationships with campus and community partners is a key component of any successful Honors College. She is excited to begin her work alongside Honors staff and students to contribute to SCSU’s academic distinction by positioning the Honors College as a springboard for experiential learning, student research, and excellence in students’ major and minor areas of study.
