Dan Seeger has been named the Station Manager of KSVC at St. Cloud State University and began in his role on Aug. 16.
Seeger brings to the position a strong commitment to college radio that stems from his own experience as an undergraduate student who joined a cohort of young broadcasters to run WWSP-FM, the station at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Early on, he served in multiple official station roles, took an on-air spin with nearly every program on the schedule and served as the student co-coordinator of the annual trivia contest, which was designated by the U.S. Trivia Association as the largest of its kind in the world.
As life brought with it several professional turns, including a stint in commercial radio, Seeger found his way back to the collegiate setting and the left end of the dial. His professional portfolio includes serving as the General Manager and Staff Advisor of radio station WPRK-FM, broadcasting from the basement of the Mills Building at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. He went on to be the Director of Student Activities at Warren Wilson College. He stepped away from higher education for a time, working in business-to-business publishing and in the technical communication field, but college radio kept calling him back.
Seeger is excited to work with Jim Gray and the students at KVSC to provide first-rate alternative programming for the campus of St. Cloud State University and Central Minnesota. Special thanks to Jim and our students who stepped up to lead the station as the search was underway for new leadership for KVSC.
Seeger replaces Jo McMullen-Boyer, who long served as KVSC’s Station Manager. She retired last spring and passed away this summer. Jo dedicated more than 30 years to KVSC, SCSU, students, listeners, devoted volunteers and station supporters. As we move into the future, her legacy will continue to live on, and she will be missed by many.
