HuskyTech at St. Cloud State University provided a unique opportunity for the campus community to gain a hands-on experience with engineering technology and network with fellow Huskies during Innovation Days held in Miller Center on campus from Oct. 25-27.
HuskyTech is transforming into a modern environment that will better support innovation, recruitment and retention. As an innovation hub, HuskyTech will collaborate with campus and external partners to conduct experiential workshop opportunities and will showcase state-of-the-art and creative highlights from all around campus.
During Innovations Days, multiple sessions were held for SCSU students, faculty and staff to engage on a variety of topics surrounding artificial intelligence, especially generative AI such as OpenAI, ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing.
Innovation Days began with presentations and working sessions led by SCSU alumnus Todd Van Nurden, who is a Principal Cloud Architect for Microsoft. Van Nurden, a 20-year veteran at Microsoft, specializes in helping customers and partners understand and visualize where technology trends can take their business.
As part of Van Nurden’s visit and in partnership with SCSU students, faculty and staff, HuskyTech held an Open House on Oct. 25 for the broader campus community to explore innovative technologies including artificial intelligence, virtual reality and more.
“It is such an exciting time as we transform HuskyTech into a modern innovation hub,” said Phil Thorson, SCSU Vice President for Technology Strategy & CIO. “We are so excited about this partnership with amazing campus faculty, support staff and students during a major time of disruptive technology. SCSU has wonderful innovations happening across campus and we are excited to partner and promote these key strengths.”
Open House was a success for HuskyTech, seeing hundreds of Huskies attending for engaging conversations among students, faculty and staff about opportunities to leverage advanced technologies in higher education and professional careers.
