St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis presented President Robbyn Wacker with a proclamation declaring April 24, 2024 “President Dr. Robbyn Wacker Day” in the City of St. Cloud. Kleis presented the proclamation during the April 24 Journey Across the World showcase at the Paramount Theatre in Downtown St. Cloud.
The proclamation reads:
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Dr. Robbyn Wacker became the 24th President of St. Cloud State University in 2018 and is the first permanently appointed female president to lead the university. President Wacker has energized the campus and community and is steadfast in her commitment to making SCSU the choice for Minnesota and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Wacker is a strategic thinker, a visionary leader, and an organizational innovator who understands both the challenges and the opportunities for SCSU. Through a bold framework called It’s Time, she is leading SCSU in reimagining how the university delivers on its promise to inclusively, educate a broader range of students to be global and engaged citizens and to partner with business and community leaders to address the changing societal, community and workforce needs; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Wacker has grown new undergraduate enrollment – the first enrollment increase since 2015. She established the Minnesota Institute of Technology to expand technology opportunities for students. She was recently named to the 2024 Top 100 in Twin Cities Business magazine. She also led SCSU through the tough challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and she is an unapologetic champion of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Wacker is a first-generation student who holds a doctorate and is an inspiration to all on campus. I have enjoyed our many conversations about collaborative community efforts to ensure St. Cloud remains a destination for all. I have truly appreciated the friendship and partnership over the years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Dave Kleis, Mayor of the City of St. Cloud, do hereby proclaim this 24th day of April 2024, to be
“President Dr. Robbyn Wacker Day”
