SCSU Social Studies educator appointed to PELSB by Governor

Rochelle Dyer was appointed by Governor Tim Walz to serve on Minnesota’s Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB). She will serve a two-year term beginning April 24, 2024 representing teachers in a board-approved teacher preparation program.

“I am honored and absolutely looking forward to serving and learning as a member of this group,” Dyer said.

As one of 13 board members, Dyer is part of team that establishes and maintains teacher licensure standards and requirements, establishes and enforces Teacher Code of Ethics, approves and oversees teacher preparation providers and programs, and administers grants.

“We are very proud of this accomplishment and look forward to Rochelle’s growth as a member of PELSB,” said King Banaian, interim dean of the College of Education and Learning Design.

Dyer holds three degrees and a post-masters graduate certificate from St. Cloud State University with extensive experience in K-12 education as a social studies teacher in the Sartell-St. Stephen school district and holds K-12 principal and superintendent licensures. She will add the “Dr.” credential with a Doctor of Education this later this year.
