St. Cloud State University’s ROTC Fighting Saints Battalion will host a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 4:30 p.m. on the Husky Stadium steps on SCSU’s campus.
The Fighting Saints Battalion is honoring and remembering the sacrifices made on the tragic day in our nation’s history. Participants can choose to climb the full 2,071 stairs – representing the number of steps climbed by first responders – or can complete any portion of the climb.
“For many of the students on campus, we were not alive when the attacks took place in 2001,” said Ryan Sperry, a Fighting Saints Battalion cadet and Manufacturing Engineering Technology major. “That’s why we feel this stair climb event is so important. To make sure that even though we didn’t witness the events that unfolded that day, we still honor and recognize the bravery of all those who lost their lives.”
Sperry added that all are welcome to participate in the event. Clubs, organizations, teams, families, co-workers and community members are encouraged to attend together in this remembrance.
Meet at the Husky Stadium front gate for check-in and brief opening remarks on Sept. 11.
