Dear Colleagues,
St. Cloud State University continues to make great strides in serving our students and community. I’m extremely proud of the work of our faculty and staff this year to recruit and retain students despite the challenges we have faced together.
As we pass the 30th day of classes, we are excited to share that we continue our trend of the last several years of a total headcount just over 10,000. Although we are still working to analyze this year’s data, early indications are that we will have a slight increase in total headcount over last year. Next week, a more detailed breakdown of the Fall 2024 enrollment data will be provided through the University Factbook.
For each of the last four years, we have continued to see consistent enrollment numbers; however, it is important to note that total headcount is only one of many components of the full budget picture. Revenue generation is impacted by students’ credit-taking behavior and the variations in tuition rates based on program. Although we are varying slightly from our budgeted tuition, other factors are mitigating the impact, such as our ability to collect outstanding debt from prior years. Current data indicates that we are still within a reasonable range to ensure we are tracking with our 5-year budget model.
No matter the enrollment impact, we will continue to closely monitor our revenue and expenses, recruit within our region and beyond, enhance our retention efforts, explore new revenue generation possibilities, and build our relationships on campus, within the community and across the state, nation, and globe.
My sincerest thanks once again to our faculty and staff for all you do for our students.
Go Huskies!
Respectfully,
Larry H. Dietz
Interim President
