SCSU hosts event for local K-12 artists

A plaque with two photos of Vera W. Russell is on display in the Miller Center

Over 150 pieces of art from St. Cloud Area School District 742 students and their families are now on display in the James W. Miller Learning Resources Center.

St. Cloud State University’s Department of Art, College of Education and Learning Design and University Library have partnered to host the Vera Russell Art Gallery.

A gallery celebration will be held on Feb. 21 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on the west end of the Miller Center’s first floor. Pieces were submitted by District 742 art teachers and will remain on display until April 28.

The annual event was also held in the Miller Center in 2025, while it had previously been located in the Education Building since the inaugural gallery in 2009.

The gallery was originally created and funded through a donation from Vera Russell, who graduated from SCSU in 1940 and was an elementary educator for over 40 years.
