St. Cloud State University alumnus Matt Trombley ’97 ’00 has been named the interim vice president for Student Affairs and will begin on March 2.
Trombley currently serves as assistant dean for business graduate programs in SCSU’s Herberger Business School. He was recently honored by the Minnesota State Board of Trustees for excellence in service.
“Matt brings over 20 years of student affairs experience to his new role and has led multiple student-centered services on campus,” SCSU President Dr. Gregory Tomso said. “I am confident that his commitment to students and institutional knowledge will support our mission of centering the needs of students in everything we do.”
Trombley previously was the executive director of Atwood Memorial Center, housing and retail operations and was the student union’s associate director for a decade.
He will now provide strategic leadership and direction for the departments and services within Student Affairs. This includes the Career Center, American Indian Center, LGBT Resource Center, Women’s Center, Residential Life, Dean of Students, Atwood Memorial Center, Campus Involvement, Counseling and Psychological Services, Medical Clinic, Student Accessibility Services and Veterans Resource Center.
Trombley will also provide leadership in campus crisis response, promoting wellbeing and fostering a culture of care for students.

Trombley earned two degrees from SCSU: a bachelor’s in public administration in 1997 and his MBA in 2000. He is involved in the St. Cloud community through various roles with GREAT Theatre. He began as a volunteer on and off stage in 2018 before joining as a board member in 2023.
