St. Cloud State University announced today that it will begin delivering its Twin Cities graduate programs in partnership with North Hennepin Community College (NHCC) at NHCC’s Brooklyn Park campus in Fall 2026.

The move will take effect Monday, August 3, transitioning programs currently offered at SCSU’s Plymouth location to NHCC.

North Hennepin Community College and St. Cloud State University are sister institutions within the Minnesota State system, and this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to student success, access, and efficient use of public resources.

“This partnership allows us to combine St. Cloud State’s graduate education expertise with North Hennepin’s strong campus infrastructure and student‑centered environment,” said SCSU President Dr. Gregory Tomso. “By working together, we are able to offer our Twin Cities graduate students a more complete campus experience while continuing to deliver the high‑quality academic programs they expect from SCSU.”

Through this partnership, St. Cloud State graduate students attending courses at NHCC will have access to a wide range of campus amenities including dining options, a fitness and recreation center, community and study spaces, library services, and a food cupboard, along with on-site staff who can connect them to tutoring and mental health support. These resources were not available at SCSU’s leased Plymouth location.

“With growing demand for graduate education in the northwest metro, this partnership allows us to meet learners where they are by bringing advanced degree options closer to the communities we serve,” said NHCC President Dr. Rolando García. “It also builds on years of informal collaboration and creates a path to expand over time into bachelor’s degree completion programs that align with NHCC’s two-year offerings.”

The Twin Cities site serves working professionals and graduate students seeking flexible, high-quality programs in a convenient metro location. St. Cloud State offers a range of graduate programs in the northwest metro designed to meet regional workforce and community needs, with courses delivered in evening, hybrid, and other student-centered formats. A full list of programs offered in the Twin Cities is available on the SCSU website.

Importantly, all programs delivered at NHCC will remain St. Cloud State University programs. Faculty, academic standards, admissions, advising, degrees, and tuition are unchanged.

Current graduate students impacted by the move are being notified directly and will receive additional information from their program directors in the coming weeks. Prospective students are encouraged to explore program offerings and admissions information online.

This transition reflects St. Cloud State University’s continued commitment to student success, strategic partnerships within Minnesota State, and responsible stewardship of resources.
