St. Cloud State University has opened a new dedicated space to support transfer students as they transition into the University community.

The Transfer Hub, located on the first floor of the Administrative Services Building, will provide dedicated resources, advising and support services designed to help transfer students transition smoothly, stay on track academically and fully engage in campus life.

The Transfer Hub provides personalized guidance for students transferring from community colleges, technical colleges and other universities. Services include transfer advising, credit evaluation support, interactive programming and events, orientation assistance and connections to campus resources and student organizations.

An official ribbon cutting for the Transfer Hub was held on Aug. 31 with community and two-year college partners.

“Transfer students bring valuable experiences and perspectives to our campus,” said Michael Coonen, director of transfer partnerships and collaboration at St. Cloud State. “The new Transfer Hub ensures that these students have a dedicated space where they can find support, ask questions, and build connections from day one.”

The Transfer Hub highlights the University’s ongoing support of transfer students, who make up about 43 percent of SCSU’s total enrollment. Over the past three years, over 2,600 students have transferred to SCSU, with an average increase of about 3 percent per year.

This new space is part of St. Cloud State’s commitment to improving access, student success and degree completion. By centralizing services for transfer students, the University aims to streamline the transition process and help students quickly integrate into academic programs and the campus community.

The Transfer Hub will also host workshops, information sessions and community-building events throughout the academic year.

“Transfer students represent a significant and growing part of St. Cloud State,” President Dr. Gregory Tomso said. “The Transfer Hub reflects our commitment to ensuring these students have the tools, guidance and support they need to succeed.”
