International graduate students will talk about their homelands, with particular focus on how the media function.
Attend the Global Social Media Roundtable, an open-house event 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 28 in the Atwood Memorial Center lounge.
Coordinating the event will be students from Lisa Heinrich’s COMM 605 Ethics and Critical Analysis of Media. Heinrich is a professor of mass communications who has taught at St. Cloud State since 1993.
“Because the roundtable is part of a graduate class,” said Heinrich, “many of the students who participate have professional media experience, which gives them rare insight into how the media operate in their respective countries.”
Among the nations to be discussed are Nepal, Sri Lanka, China, South Africa, Iran, Russia and The Gambia.
The Global Media Roundtable builds communication bridges among domestic and international students, Heinrich said.
The roundtable has been presented six times since 2006.
